People who are active, engaged in their communities, and who continue learning throughout their lives feel more productive and purposeful, and are healthier and happier. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of South Carolina Beaufort is devoted to creating and sustaining a robust and thriving lifelong learning community specifically for adults aged 50 and older through intellectual, cultural and social programs. These enrichment opportunities are offered in a climate that fosters friendship and mutual sharing of ideas and life experiences.
One of only 125 OLLI sites across the U.S., they offer courses at three campuses – Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort. The courses, trips and discussions exploring topics from arts & culture, business & finance, computers, culinary arts, ecology, film, gardening, government, history, health & medicine, international studies, legal, literature, music, philosophy, religion, science, sports, as well as issues of local, state, national and international interest.
