Meet the Owners: Steve and Peggy Berry
If you live in St. Andrews, you already know this month’s “meet the neighbor” couple! Steve and Peggy Berry are icons of St. Andrews Common. Since purchasing their condo in September 2019, they have lived in Palmetto Dunes full time. According to Steve and Peggy, they had been visiting Hilton Head Island for about 15 years and fell in love with the island. When the visited over the years, the continued to rent in Shipyard or Palmetto Dunes. When ready to purchase, they knew Palmetto Dunes was the place. Originally, the plan was to make their condo a vacation home, keeping a home in Atlanta, Georgia, as well. Quickly, they realized how much they loved PD so shortly after purchasing their “vacation” home, they sold their home in Atlanta to be here all year round!
The couple said, “we love the bike trails, the people, the tennis and the restaurants.” Both are very active in Palmetto Dunes and St. Andrews. Steve is a great resource on the St. Andrews Facebook page; always answering questions or offering guidance about the complex. Steve loves to help others, from helping with repairs, to airport trips, to dog and/or condo sitting. He belongs to a walking group, called “Sunrise on the Beach,” where, as the title suggests, he and the fellow members walk the beach at sunrise with their dogs. Storm, Steves’s 2-year-old lab and Steve have both made many friends through this group. Peggy is an avid tennis player, playing almost every day. As well as playing, she has captained many USTA and ALTA tennis teams. While in Atlanta, she was on the board of the YWCA and other committees. She too is very involved as she is an active board member at St. Andrews. When walking around the condo complex and the greater PD area, you will most likely see one of them outside talking to neighbors, offering help around the complex, and during the holiday season, decorating the St. Andrews entrance!
Steve and Peggy have one son, one daughter (Storm, his 3rd child) and 4 beautiful grandchildren that all still live in the Atlanta area. Steve and his family are huge Georgia Bull Dawgs fans!! If you are interested in being a future “meet the neighbor” please email Dawn Schlich at [email protected].
