Meet the Owners: Sharon Lowe
Meet our Hickory Cove neighbor, Sharon Lowe. Sharon lives with her husband Alistair in Hickory Cove, part-time and then in Asheville, NC the rest of the time. Fortunately, their home was not damaged during Hurricane Helene, but many others in her area were greatly affected.
The family began coming to HHI 30 years ago for the beaches, shoppes and restaurants. Eventually, they decided it was time to purchase their own place. So, they purchased a five-bedroom house in Sea Pines which they rented out when not on the island. In 2023 they decided to downsize from the big house in Sea Pines and found a villa in Hickory Cove that was just the perfect size. So they moved to Palmetto Dunes. The Lowe’s come to Hilton Head from January to May and then again from the end of August to mid-October but no longer rent when not on HHI. Thirty years later, the family still loves the beaches, shoppes and restaurants. One of their favorite activities still, and the reason they keep coming back, is riding bikes on the beach and bike paths on the island.
Sharon said her favorite thing about PD is the “focus on the owners.” She stated that there are so many owner activities and events, which makes it feel like a real community rather than a resort with residents mixed in. Sea Pines, according to Sharon, gave the residents very little say in anything and had very few owner events.
Sharon is a photographer, with her favorite subject matter is night photography. She said she “loves using long exposures to capture in a different way what we see during the day.” During 2025, she will be spending a lot of time in Charleston and Savannah doing black and white photography, which she will exhibit on HHI. She is also a member of the PD social media committee.
The Lowe’s have 2 grown children and two grandsons, who live near Boston. The children and grandchildren love the Island as much as their parents, and look forward to every visit.
