First Thursdays….. Adopt-a-Highway Morning
Palmetto Dunes continues to lead the way on Hilton Head Island. On Earth Day 2026, we announced we are the first community on the island to participate in the county’s “Adopt-a-Highway” program. As a community, the PDPOA is responsible for cleaning up the one mile of Highway 278 between Nectar restaurant and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Starting August 6, we’re launching “First Thursday Clean-Ups” as part of our Adopt-a-Highway commitment. Enjoy a morning out with neighbors — fresh air, a chance to meet neighbors and work alongside friends while making a difference at the entrance to our community.
Everything you need is provided — gloves, safety vests, litter pickers, and garbage bags. Clean-ups run from 8-10am, and we’ll cap it off with an informal coffee get-together afterward. Keep an eye out for a sign-up email. Come once, come every month — totally up to you. And if you’ve got family or friends visiting, bring them along. No experience required, no heavy lifting, just good company and a couple of hours with a big impact.
Thank you to our community partner, Greenwood Communities & Resorts, for volunteering to take care of the July highway clean-up. Click here to sign-up for the August clean-up.
