Community Standards: Fall Seasonal Reminder
As cooler weather and the fall season arrives, the PDPOA Community Standards team will again be visiting neighborhoods throughout Palmetto Dunes as part of our ongoing efforts to help maintain the beauty, safety, and overall appearance of our community.
Palmetto Dunes is known for its well-maintained homes, attractive landscapes, and welcoming environment. These qualities help protect property values and contribute to the enjoyment of all residents, guests, and visitors. As a friendly reminder, we encourage property owners to take a moment to review their property and address any maintenance items that may need attention. Some of the common items we may notice during our visits include:
- Home and landscape maintenance – Items include weed removal, mowing grass, hedge trimming, palm tree trimming, and mold removal from home exterior
- Areas of exposed bare ground that need ground cover applied – Such as mulch, pine straw, or other ground cover
- Recreational equipment, such as portable basketball goals or soccer nets, that are not in active use and remain visible from the street
- Trash containers that should be stored out of view when not in use
- Potential safety concerns, such as dead or declining trees and hanging limbs
- Placement of flags in accordance with community standards – ARB Standards & Guidelines (Paragraph 7.13) allow for one house or deck mounted flag holder or one 20-foot flagpole with no lighting (ARB approval needed prior to installation).
In addition to neighborhood visits, staff will also be continuing to observe waterfront areas and encouraging property owners to periodically review the condition of docks, decks, seawalls, and other waterfront structures.
During my short tenure, just over 90 days, I have had the pleasure of meeting several property owners regarding community standards issues, answering their questions and addressing their concerns. The cooperation, support, and appreciation for community standards that the Owners have given us has been amazing and very much appreciated. I am here to help and assist all Owners with addressing any community standards issues that are identified and will always do so in a respectful and supportive manner. I hope this information is helpful and allows everyone to prepare for the upcoming community standards review.
