2027 Capital Budget Approved
At its September meeting, the Board of Directors approved 2027 Capital Budget, which is linked below for your information and reflects the Association’s continued commitment to preserving, maintaining, and enhancing the infrastructure, and natural resources that contribute to the quality of life and property values within Palmetto Dunes.
The proposed budget includes approximately $4.87 million in new capital funding for 2027, consisting of approximately $2.06 million from the Community Enhancement Fund and $2.81 million from the Repair & Replacement (Reserve) Fund. This funding is for a variety of projects, including roadway and drainage improvements, lagoon dredging, pathway repairs, pedestrian bridge and bulkhead replacements, Queen’s Folly corridor improvements, pocket park development, and associated engineering and design work.
Many of the largest infrastructure projects currently underway are multi-year initiatives that were approved and funded, in whole or in part, through the 2025 and 2026 capital budgets. While construction activity for these projects will continue throughout 2027, the funding for significant portions of this work has already been provided in prior years and is being carried forward for its intended purpose.
Examples include the ongoing Mooring Buoy roadway and drainage improvements, Haul Away roadway and drainage improvements, Rum Row roadway and drainage improvements. These projects require extensive planning, engineering, permitting, procurement, and phased construction, resulting in expenditures occurring over multiple budget years.
We are also putting the finishing touches on an exciting new communication tool on the Palmetto Dunes website that will serve as a central source of information for community projects. This resource will help ensure everyone has access to accurate and current information.
Collectively, the projects funded in prior years and those proposed for 2027 represent one of the most substantial ongoing investments in the community’s infrastructure in recent years. These improvements are intended to secure the long-term sustainability of Palmetto Dunes while protecting the assets entrusted to the Association by its members.
