Crime Alert: Stolen Vehicle on Off Shore Drive

On Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at approximately 6:30 a.m., the Palmetto Dunes Security Department responded to a residence on Off Shore Drive in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, the property owner stated that they last saw their vehicle on Tuesday night at approximately midnight while it was parked in their driveway. The property owner stated that they left the vehicle unlocked and the keys were in the vehicle. The vehicle was described as a white 2021 Honda Odyssey with South Carolina tag SPB 471. Another vehicle was left unlocked in their driveway (with the keys inside the vehicle), however it was not stolen.

Upon review of our video management system, the vehicle was observed at the intersection of Sea Lane and Mooring Buoy at 3:50 a.m. while failing to stop at the intersection. The vehicle was then observed traveling along Mooring towards the North Gate and continuing along Queens Folly Road (outbound) prior to exiting Palmetto Dunes onto Highway 278 at approximately 3:52 a.m.

As a reminder, please make sure that you never leave your keys or valuables in your vehicles. Additionally, please make sure that you always lock your vehicles and homes. This type of incident is a crime of opportunity and can easily be prevented by taking these reasonable precautions.
