Appealing a Citation

The Private Citation Hearing Board consists of five members. Hearings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. The offender may appeal the citation within 15 days of receipt by sending an email detailing the citation number and nature of the appeal to the Community Relations Liaison. If you are unable to attend the hearing in person, you letter or email will serve as your representation. Please note that the officer who issued the citation will be present at the hearing.

Collection Process

  1. Offender has 15 days to pay fine, after citation or denied appeal.
  2. For payment not received within such 15 days, a follow-up delinquent letter will be sent to the offender and, if a renter, also to the property owner.
  3. If no response within 30 days, the fine will be added to the property owner’s annual assessment account.
  4. Normal collection procedures will then be followed.
