Monday Morning Briefing: Back to School Hilton Head Island – Bluffton Chamber of Commerce

Even though students return to the classroom August 17, it’s back to school this week for Beaufort County teachers and staff.

Teachers can have an incredible influence on their students inside and outside the classroom, and help groom the Lowcountry leaders of tomorrow.

By creating and supporting partnerships between local businesses and schools, your chamber and the Business Education Partnership Committee helps enhance the quality of education throughout the Lowcountry. That’s why every year, we roll out two programs for the business community to show their support for local teachers and school support staff.

The Golden Apple Program offers deals and perks generously donated by participating members. More than 75 businesses participated last year by offering discounts on a range of services from car repairs to meals and everything in between.

If you’d like to participate this year, click here to submit your offer. For more information on the Golden Apple Program, click here.

Teachers spend hundreds of dollars of their own money each year on classroom supplies. Project Connect gives businesses and individuals the opportunity to lessen that burden by donating much-needed school supplies. More than $35,000 has been used since the program began.

You can drop off school supplies at donation bins placed at our Hilton Head Island and Bluffton Chamber offices during regular hours, and we’ll also collect donations at some fall events. Click here for more information about Project Connect.

By supporting our local teachers, we help support the next generation of Lowcountry leaders. Join us in showing your support!
